Foundation for Humanisation
Foundation for Humanisation was set up in 1992 by volunteers of the worldwide Humanist movement with the following objectives:
  • To promote a new current of thoughts and actions with the human being as the central value and concern
  • To orient positive changes in the human being in personal and social fields
  • To influence various fields for bringing positive changes and for carrying out actions on the basis of physical, economic, racial and religious non-violence, on the basis of ideas of no discrimination,
    freedom and justice and for overcoming physical pain and mental suffering which hinders human evolution To fulfil these objectives it has networked with 12,000 grassroots organisations and 15,000 individuals through various initiatives across India and in other countries. It has compiled several databases of libraries, educational institutions, journalists and electronic lists.

Its major projects are:

  • Publication of Humanscape magazine and other publications since 1993. See online here
  • National campaign for building a volunteers cadre ‘A Different India’ under the slogan ‘India can be different, if we are not indifferent ’ since 1998
  • Setting up of autonomous village organisations – Manavta Kendras since 1999.

The trustees

  • BM Aiyyappa is an engineer by profession and a member of the humanist movement
  • Jayesh Shah is an ex-stock broker & financial consultant and a member of the humanist movement
  • Fatema Pocketwala is an executive in an export firm and a member of the humanist movement
  • Lokendra Sheth is a Mumbai-based industrialist and a member of the humanist movement
  • Nailesh P Dalal is a Mumbai-based industrialist and a member of the humanist movement
